We are really sorry. We made a mistake and goofed in how we brought the Under Sea into service. It is not fair that your experience onboard last winter and spring was impacted by this.

We purchased the Undersea Hunter because we knew she was a well-loved boat with a long and fabled history of taking divers out to Cocos Island. We thought everything was just great about this ship, from Dr. Perry’s funky huge old submarine crane, to the teak planking, to the open dive deck, to the water platform. Sure it was different from our other ships, but we thought it was cool and would be a neat addition to our fleet.

We were wrong. The ship did not live up to our guests’ expectations and we didn’t provide you with the experience associated with Nautilus Liveaboards.

Our answer was to roll up our sleeves, go back to the shipyard, and undertake a massive modernization of the ship including; a 20ft stretch, a new superstructure and the same enormous water level platform as other ships. Sadly, we even replaced the funky old crane with a modern HIAB. The lounge area has been enlarged. We reconfigured the dining room. We added a second lounge on the hot tub deck. We greatly improved the size of the sun deck. We built a huge new camera table, and enlarged the dive deck. We added the same whisper-quiet Cummins genset that we have on our other ships. We overhauled all the other machinery. And so on. The Under Sea is a new and different ship.

None of this matters if you only make one trip on the ship. Accordingly–and with our most sincere apologies–we humbly ask that you consider taking another trip on the Under Sea with us at a big discount. 1/2 price if you take another trip on the Under Sea between now and December 23rd. We will also cover your port fees and issue a US$100 credit towards onboard purchases. Alternatively, we want to offer a US$1000 discount on any trip from December 24, 2017 onwards on the Under Sea.

I am sorry if we let you down. It was bad judgement on my part.

Sincerely,

Mike Lever
