A superb example in every respect. Scottish, circa 1820. James Mein was the most celebrated of all the cabinetmaker in the Scottish Borders, working in Kelso from 1784 until his death in 1830. Amongst his local patrons were the Dukes of Roxburghe at Floors Castle and the Earl of Haddington at Mellerstain. H:
