These (denazified) awards were issued by the Federal Republic of Germany in 1957 for Veterans wear (as WWII awards were not allowed for wear) and awarded only to German veterans entitled to such awards during the war

This particular buckle is illustrated on page 422 of "Belt Buckles & Brocades of the Third Reich

and that such attacks last sometimes two weeks or more
