Its a unifoliate epiphyte with creeping rhizomes and close set, pear shaped pseudobulbs (23 cm long, 1. 52 cm wide). Each pseudobulb carries one leathery, oblong leaf up to about 22 cm long and 34 cm wide. In spring to early summer it produces an ascending 10 cm inflorescence bearing two to three yellow flowers.
