Toward the end of WWII Imperial Japan was starved of raw materials and factories. The need to more equipment was dire and the IJA used what was available. This is an extremely rare Type 90 Civil defense helmet which was issued for use in the Imperial Japanese Army hence the addition of the star which was added to the front. The Japanese WWII Civil Defense helmet was the final of four variations of the Type 90 Army
