The style and materials used indicate that it was made around 1880

but these finally all sold out in 2009

Original walnut stocks are in very good solid condition with minor dings and scratches from use and age and lots of original finish remaining

This is a nice example of a Navigational Compass as used in aircraft of France during WWII. The compass is marked on the side Compas VION type H. A. 82. Brevete S. G. D. G. it reads rests in its original wooden box with leather strap. The compass is affixed to a mounting bracket, which could be attached to either a vertical or horizontal surface of the aircraft. Small levers on either on either side of the round
