dated 1847

but clean and bright

a bit hard to date and to place in terms of origin--this has a bit of the feel of Mexican folk art to me

and not a fussy thing about it

I very much appreciate ones of the more elaborate and skillfully rendered sort, with lots and lots of fancy outfits, but it is a doll like this, with very naive (and very very expressive!) graphite drawn face, that for me is the best of all.
