I love antique wooden carriers like this as a form, but usually let them go but the old salmon colored paint on this one, and especially the "make do" handle, make it especially special, and beautiful, so I was sold in one second flat. The handle is a separate piece of wood, like a basket handle (and may indeed once have belonged to a basket), notched and carved so as to just extend one side, with fat nails securing it. Perfectly fitted, and
