This was quite an exciting thing to find yesterday in New Hampshire

extending up along the edges and attached by thread wound through pierced holes

with whittled posts/finials extending from the spools at the back of the chair

Often one finds these in pretty rough shape, but this one has been beautifully preserved, with few losses, and most every page densely packed. It is hard to grasp from photos, but this is quite small in scale with that intimacy amplifying the sense of fineness and delicacy to each individual hair
