I'm guessing this old box was made for a specific purpose

One does wonder what all is going on inside the “hole in the wall" pictured

This heavy plate with a beautiful aqua green glaze and incised design of three whales circling around a triple spiral at its center was made in a limited edition by the United States Quarry Tile Company in conjunction with the Romany Spartan Ceramics Company in the 1950's

no losses or damage at all that I can see and nothing at all loose or broken

one mouse's plug is just little bit loose--meaning they might be safest perched on a shelf or just decoratively on the table

At first glance I took these for a cluster of button mushrooms, but a closer look, and the printed list on the reverse of the card, reveals these as a collection of hail stones from "the Great Storm of 1870." The compounding of the strange phenomenon that is hail with the fact of these particular hail stones having been captured as documents of a specific "Great Storm" before melting
