I'd guess this unsigned painting on a heavyweight paper/light cardstock dates to the 1970s or so

The black paper could certainly be cut to separate the two roosters

1870s-80s or so would be my guess

which one imagines as some sort of comedy of manners filled with exaggerated characters and misunderstandings and surely some romance

Lots has been written about the Pennsylvania Dutch use of these complex geometric, heavenly inspired stars on the sides of barns and far beyond, and I do think they capture both a magical sort of wonder and a sense of universal order.
