Cherubic (Presumed Christ) Child With Staff, c. 17th Century Delft Tile made in main but which manage to formSince I started paying attention to antique Delft tiles, I just can't get enough, each one its own special thing, a perfect scale drawing rendered in blue and, happily, baked to endure! A very cherubic child with staff here (I would guess meant to represent the Christ child), toes tipped forward and seeming poised to embark on a long journey which this tile did, clearly living a life, with some old clay grout still clinging to one edge. A nice old
