February 5th, 1782 Connecticut Pay-Table £15 Note - Very Fine KM.1467 Proof 1964 Roosevelt Dime -This is a military payment note in the amount of 15 Pounds payed to Captain Adam Shopley. Captain Shopley had an interesting brush with history when in 1871 Bennedict Arnold's expedition against Connecticut landed in the harbor of New London. Their only defense was the, still incomplete, Fort Trumbull occupied by Shopley's 25 30 state militia. Arnold's forces vastly outnumbered Shopley's and they were forced to retreat to Fort Griswold after disabling
