I'd guess this plaque was awarded to the lifetime employee of some business or corporation to mark four decades of service

Hand-carved Old Dark Wood Whimsy Chain - 24 Inches it's wet This is a striking pairA simple but very nicely done old whimsy chain, carved from one piece of wood. I have a number of carved chains in the shop, and looked at a lot more, and even if if nothing more than chain links like this one, they vary so much in character. This I can tell you is a really lovely one, which though fairly light in weight feels substantial, and a nice rectangular form to the the links, with just the right amount of irregularity, and a little rounding
