Found hanging in an English barn this is a totally original oil lantern manufactured in 1916 expressly for use in the WW1 trenches. Complete with the burner and wick, it retains all four glass panes and the original makers metal plaque embossed: CHRISTOPHER COLLINS LTD., BIRMINGHAM. MANUFACTURERS 1916 Steel outer of the lantern is pitted from exposure but totally original in the black finish
