This is a United States Model 1850 or M1850 Militia Coatee. We believe it dates from the early period of the Indian Wars as the inside tails are a green black not a solid black like the later issue examples. This Coatee is fort the 7th New York Militia Regiment with multiple names written inside the on the lining. The front of the swallowed tail jacket has 9 rows of herringbone pattern ribbon going across, with only
