This is an very nice well patinated example of a U. S. Civil War issue Model 1840 Non Commissioned Officer's sword, just acquired at an estate sale, untouched for years. It was produced by the Ames Manufacturing Company, Cabotville, Massachusetts. Ames made swords in Cabotville from approximately 1837 1848, meaning this was one of the last swords produced at this location! The sword measures 38" overall, and has an
