I believe this set of wooden jack straws dates to 1890s or so

There are four holes--one at the center of each side--for mounting to the wall

of which I've had a good handful

Painted Cutout Butterly with Fine Antennae! whimsey Certainly the 19th century wasQuite an exhuberant butterly, and it seems fairly old one judging from the back, hand painted on laid paper, with very finely cut out antennae! Perhaps it lost one tiny one along the way, but who cares, a lovely, painterly thing which also feels quite symbolic! 7 7 16 wing span x 4 1 8 t, very good condition.
