Original U.S Civil War M-1840 "Wrist Breaker" Heavy Cavalry Saber with Scabbard by Ames of Cabotville, Massachusetts Japanese Holsters original 1956 dated slingOriginal item: Only One Available. This Heavy Cavalry Saber, known as "Old Wristbreaker" among troops, was designated the U. S. Model of 1840, but was widely used in the War between the States on both sides. This fine example bears a manufacturer's marking for the lesser known locations for Ames Manufacturing Company, Cabotville, Massachusetts. Below this is an extremely partial date which appears as 185 with the last two numbers almost completely
