and the Barbary Dove--all of which this rendering manages to make seem highly exotic

Elsie Zimmerman's Full of Character Graphite Chair Drawing, c. 1930s old drawing pencils which gives it its colorThis chair was one of a handful of school drawings found in Lancaster County PA by a young Elsie Zimmerman, c. 1930s I believe. I've come to recognize standard programs of drawing exercises for grade school students during various decades, and have had one other chair drawing of a similar ilk to this one, which I believe was part of the program during that period, an exercise in perspective I believe. I love it very much as a stand alone drawing one
