I can read "Aug 11" and have found a couple other examples of this wheel out there that show patent dates of Aug

this is just a lovely object that feels great in the hand and that I think has many more good years in it yet

I’ve seen a lot of folk art doorstops

and think they would be a really wonderful thing to build a collection of and hang salon style as a grouping

19th Century Clothes Brush with Velvet Covered Ferrule and Lacquered Turned Handle dark horsehair constructed of interlockingThe sliver or silver plated band on this very lovely antique clothes brush shows a series of dates, from 1872 to 1881 patent dates or what I am not certain. I love it for the velvet covered ferrule, the black lacquered turned handle, and those very pale bristles, horsehair I believe, with red stitching. Good for sweeping crumbs off the table or eraser shavings from the studio table, or just hanging on the wall by its loop. 6 1 4" tall not including
