Ratchet Style Old Handmade Wooden Noisemaker Scandinavian folk art designed in the 1960s byThese old noisemakers aka clappers, clackers, battle rattles, etc. are pretty fun to wave around, with a strong motion of the arm producing a satisfying, loud thwack as the tongue slaps the side of the notched wheel as it turns (or, of course, one can just use a second hand to turn it.) A perfect, simple design solution to the need to make noise(!), it's also just a great looking object this one with boxed end stained green, and a nice turned handle.
