David Hirsch had planned to plant Nebbiolo on the rocky, 40% slope above his house; Burt Williams, who was buying his Pinot for Williams Selyem, told him he was crazy and to plant Chardonnay instead, so the 1994 cuttings came from Rochioli, with a second sandstone parcel added in 2002. The farming is biodynamic and the winemaking is
