1849 Copper Engraving Hagar Abraham Biblical Ishmael Art Dog Judaism Child XHA2 YBR1 34th Street and 35th StreetThis is an original 1849 black and white copper engraving of the departure of Hagar, the second wife of Abraham, and young Ishmael. Sarah, Abraham's wife, was so upset after Ishmael was found mocking Isaac, that she sent Hagar and her son away. They wandered around the wilderness of Beersheba until they settled in the Desert of Paran. We are assuming that the artist of this image is W. Hamilton, and the engraver was T. Kelley.
